South Asia

- a region covering the countries of Asia, th e Indian subcontinent to the south of the Himalayas, namely: Indi a, Nepal, Bhutan, Bangladesh and the island state of Sri Lanka an d the Maldives. This region, near the region of the Far East, is one of the most populous regions of the world: the area of 3.564 million sq km (especially given the divergent) population of over 1.3 billion inhabitants (2006).
